Dhaka-- – The government has sold out Can Making and Tin Printing Plant, an enterprise of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation.

KDS Polly Industries Ltd of Chittagong bought the plant for Tk 2.20 crore, said a press release of the Privatisation Commission.

Commission’s chairman Kazi Zafarullh handed over documents of the plant to KDS Managing Director SM Shamim Iqbal at the commission office here yesterday (Wednesday).

The plant, established in 1980 on 1.5 acres of land at Nasirabad in Chittagong, remained closed for long. It produced cans and small containers and printed can and tin sheets.

The annual production and printing capacity of the industry was 1.15 crore pieces.
